Marcelo Bielsa was pleased with Leeds United’s performance as they did not “commit any errors” en route to their victory over Crystal Palace.

Leeds United made the perfect start to the game as they went in front after just three minutes. Stuart Dallas laid it off to Jack Harrison who advanced towards the penalty area. The winger struck it well and his effort took a deflection off Gary Cahill to go into the net.

The hosts were completely dominant in the first half and they should have extended their lead. Their best chance fell to Patrick Bamford, but his header was well-saved by Vicente Guaita.

Any Leeds United nerves were eased early into the second half. Raphinha’s initial shot forced Guaita into a good save but he could only palm it away. This allowed Bamford to tap home from inside the area to make it 2-0.

Crystal Palace’s best chance fell to Eberichi Eze, yet his effort from 15 yards out flew over the bar. Overall, the Eagles were well off their best as they did not put Leeds under any sort of pressure.

The Whites ran out comfortable winners in the end as they picked up their third win from their last four Premier League games.

Leeds are now back in the top half of the league having won ten of their 22 games. They sit on 32 points and they are edging closer towards safety.

Speaking post-match with Sky Sports, as cited by BBC Sport, Bielsa said his side “could have scored” more than two against Palace:

“Not having conceded is important. We didn’t commit any errors that would facilitate their attack. Our offence game was good enough to get the two goals and we could have scored some more.

“Scoring at the beginning of the game is always important. We maintained our offensive conduct throughout the game.

“The most important thing is to show consistency. To have a period of the season where we have consistent results.

“The pitch is much better than it was previously. There are a couple of games now where they are adapting to the characteristics of the pitch. In the last game, we slipped many times but in this one not as much.”
