England manager Gareth Southgate insists Harry Kane is still “very positive” about Tottenham despite suggestions he is open to leaving the club.

Talk that Kane is considering his future has been building in recent weeks. He has admitted that he has a decision to make after this summer’s EUROs, while reports claim he privately wants to leave. However, the Spurs striker is attempting to keep speculation over his future to a minimum with plenty of football to focus on for club and country.

The rumours are concerning for Tottenham, who will be fearing losing their talisman in the coming months. Kane is very much the main man for the North London outfit, with 214 goals in 326 appearances. Seeing him leave would be a huge blow to their future ambitions.

But as the gossip continues to circulate, comments from Southgate suggest Kane remains upbeat about the The Lilywhites.

Asked if Kane has been impacted by questions over his intentions, he told PA: “No, he’s so focused.

“I had a chat with him, as I do with all of the players when they come into the camp. He’s very positive about the club.

“He was talking about only being a couple of points off the Champions League, in a League Cup final and you can see his focus in the game the other day.

“He scored a fantastic goal and an excellent assist as well, so I’ve got no worries about Harry Kane. He’s a fantastic professional.

“His focus is always on the next training session, the next match and he’s somebody that can absolutely put anything to one side.”

Kane advised over next club

There is no guarantee that Kane will be on the move, but clubs have started to be linked nonetheless.

Amongst those are Manchester City and Manchester United. City will be on the look out for a new forward after it was confirmed Sergio Aguero will be leaving the club. The Red Devils, meanwhile, are understood to be long term admirers of the 27-year-old.

Should a transfer tug of war develop between the rivals, Troy Deeney has told Kane which team he should choose.

“For me, he’s one of the best around and best in the business,” Deeney told talkSPORT.

“Also the assists now make him more attractive to say a Man City as he can link the play as well.

“If he went to Man City, would that suit his game? Probably not. I think Man United suits him well, but it’s going to cost a lot of money.”
