Tottenham striker Harry Kane reportedly has no intention of entering fresh contract talks with the club as he aims to sever all ties this summer.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano believes that Kane has made it clear that he will not be staying as he wants to play in the Champions League again. The 27-year-old currently has three years remaining on his existing deal but appeared to say an emotional goodbye to the home fans after the loss to Aston Villa last week.

Kane has spoken continually about his need to be playing at the pinnacle of the European club game. However, Spurs have missed out the last two seasons and only qualified for the Europa Conference League this term.

The forward did his best once for the club again, winning the Golden Boot, but it was a season of struggle for Tottenham. They started the new campaign with great optimism under Jose Mourinho and ended it with Ryan Mason in charge.

Following the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City, the news broke that Kane wanted out.

Indeed, he told Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville that he wanted talks with chairman Daniel Levy to discuss the matter.

That has since sparked interest from the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United. Rumours on the potential fee for the England skipper have ranged from £120m to a whopping £250m.

Levy wasting his breath

And Romano claims there is no point in Levy even trying to convince his talisman to stay.

“The striker wants to leave and he has already communicated it to the club. He has no intention of listening to proposals for a new contract because he wants to play in the Champions League right away,” Romano told Benchwarmers.

He added: “Daniel Levy continues to have no plans to negotiate for Kane, a very tough position also as Harry still has a two-year contract.”

Whatever happens this summer it’s almost certain to drag on. That is down to Levy trying his utmost to force the best possible price for Tottenham.

As for the three clubs involved in the chase, United have an insurance policy after re-signing Edinson Cavani. City perhaps have the most need, as they have parted company with record scorer Sergio Aguero. Chelsea, meanwhile, have always been the outsider of the three, purely down to Kane’s reluctance to join another London club.
